Solo and women travellers: what is provided, and what is only reassured
We found no published restriction, in any instrument or on any authority page we could read, on a woman travelling alone in Dubai — not on hotel check-in, not on car hire, not on entry. That is a “nothing published that we could find” rather than a certified negative, and we say below which documents we could not read. What is provided is narrower than the reassurance industry suggests, and RTA’s own verb for the women’s metro cabin is “calls on”, not requires.
The Women and Children cabin, as RTA publishes it
RTA’s About Dubai Metro page says one sentence: “There are cabins designated for only women and children commuters.” Its fullest statement is a sustainability release from 7 August 2019, which asks rather than instructs:
“RTA calls on women and children to use the relocated cabins for added privacy in line with the norms and traditions of the community.”
Note that RTA describes the purpose as privacy in line with community norms — not safety. That release documents a three-phase relocation of the cabins to the opposite end of trains, completed in 2019, which makes older guidance about where to stand on the platform wrong.

Ladies and Families taxi: pink roof, two phone numbers
RTA lists “Ladies and families taxi” among its nine taxi categories: “a dedicated service driven by female drivers, exclusive to ladies and families”. It publishes no booking method, no fare and no fleet size. Dubai Taxi Company adds that the service “can be distinguished from other taxis by the vehicle’s Pink Roof Top” and that “all families and ladies are eligible”.
The booking number is published two ways. u.ae publishes 04-2080808; Dubai Taxi Company publishes 800 88088, along with the Bolt and S’hail apps, airport, hospital and mall ranks, and street hail. Both are official; we print both.
No authority publishes a fare differential for the ladies’ taxi, and RTA publishes no fare for it whatsoever. Tariff figures on the operator’s page are its general taxi tariff, not a ladies-taxi rate, so we do not reproduce them as one. Taxi fares in full
Two eligibility notes. Abu Dhabi’s equivalent publishes an explicit age limit — “children younger than 10 years old” — and no equivalent limit is published for the Dubai service by either RTA or the operator. Ladies’ days at beaches and parks: the trail goes cold
Dubai Municipality’s Ladies Only Day page is dated 15 October 2020 and is written in the past tense about an event held on 10 October 2020 at Al Mamzar: “All the services and facilities in the park on that day were reserved for women only and male children under six.” The Municipality’s own framing was “a special day for women once during this year”, tied to breast cancer awareness month.
Everything downstream of that has decayed. Dubai Municipality’s own Al Mamzar Beach Park page 404s while remaining indexed, as does its 2025 announcement designating four public beaches for families during Eid Al Adha. We found no current Dubai Municipality page publishing a ladies’ day schedule for any beach or park. On women-only hotel floors: we found no authority provision behind them at all. Dubai DET’s page for the hotels decree publishes title and metadata only, so we can neither confirm nor deny anything from its text. On the evidence available, women-only floors are an operator offering with no published standard behind them.
Reporting something, as a visitor
The fullest published list of channels sits on dubai.ae, not on Dubai Police’s own site — because Dubai Police’s modern service pages serve no content without JavaScript and its legacy portal returns server errors on essentially every deep link.

We found no women-specific reporting channel published for Dubai. No women’s helpline, no women’s desk, no harassment-specific number. The published protection hotline, 800988, covers “Children/PODs/Seniors” — adult women are outside its published scope. And u.ae’s own emergency-help-for-tourists page currently serves dangling stubs — “Here is a list of:” and “You can also:” with nothing following.
On the law, and why we quote no article number
The current instrument is Federal Law by Decree No. (31) of 2021 Promulgating the Crimes and Penalties Law, issued 20 September 2021, published in Official Gazette No. 712 on 26 September 2021, in force from 2 January 2022. The portal’s own disclaimer is worth carrying: the English is provided for convenience and “the original Arabic text takes precedence in interpretation and application”.
We publish no article number and no penalty figure for harassment, because we could not retrieve the relevant articles from the official text, and every specific figure in general circulation traces to news reports or law-firm marketing. Where we cannot read the source, we say so rather than repeat what others assert.
A stale-source warning worth having: the Ministry of Justice still hosts, live, Federal Decree Law No. (15) of 2020 — an amendment to the repealed 1987 penal code, superseded since 2 January 2022 — and it ranks highly in searches.
