Dubai by district

Dubai is not one place with one price level. A day in Old Dubai can cost less than a single ticket in Downtown, the metro is genuinely useful in two districts and irrelevant in three, and the same beach pass is worth twice as much in one place as another depending on what comes back as credit. These pages group every venue on this site by where it actually is.

The districts

Outside the districts

63 venues sit outside the walkable districts above — the theme parks out on the Dubailand corridor, the wildlife sanctuary, the racing venues, and a few malls with no district around them. They are reachable only by car or by a long metro ride plus a taxi, so grouping them by neighbourhood would imply a walkability that does not exist.

The counts on the cards above add to 172, and with the 63 outside that is 235 rather than the 237 venue pages this site holds. Dubai Marina and Palm Jumeirah are the difference: each is a district here and also has a venue page of its own, and a district card does not count itself.

How these pages are built

A venue lands on its district page automatically, from the address it already publishes. Nothing about the grouping is maintained by hand, which means these pages cannot quietly fall out of step with the venue list — a new page joins its district the moment it exists. The price ladders, ticket tables and station lists on each area page are computed from those venues too, so each figure traces back to the operator that published it.

Where a district’s venues name no metro station within walking distance, the page says so rather than implying otherwise. 13 of the places we cover have no station near them at all.

Which area of Dubai should I stay in?

That depends on what you want to reach on foot. Downtown and Al Barsha are on the metro and dense; Jumeirah and the Palm have no station within walking distance at all. Each district page lists what is actually there and what it costs.

Which part of Dubai is cheapest?

Old Dubai, and by a wide margin. The abra is AED 1, several museums are free, and a full day there can cost less than a single Downtown attraction ticket.

Which parts of Dubai are on the metro?

Downtown, Sheikh Zayed Road and DIFC, Al Barsha, Old Dubai and the Marina are all served. Jumeirah and the Palm are not — no venue on either names a station within walking distance.

How are these district pages built?
