Dubai with teenagers: the age each thing opens

Twelve is the number. It is the minimum for the XLine zipline, for the Sky Views Edge Walk, for unaccompanied entry to Aquaventure, and for travelling the metro alone under RTA’s own rule. Fourteen adds Wild Wadi unaccompanied and the Smash Room’s adult packages. Sixteen adds Aventura’s Extreme circuit. Eighteen is where skydiving starts, and where most operators stop asking for a parent in person.

The rule that catches families out: consent in person

Several operators do not accept a signed form sent along with the teenager. They want a parent standing there.

Where the operator contradicts itself

Sky Views publishes two different heights, two different weights and two different pregnancy rules for the same two attractions, across its own pages. Edge Walk height is “120 – 200 cm” in its FAQ and “130 – 200 cm” on the Edge Walk page; X Dubai, which also sells it, says “at least 130cm”. The Glass Slide weight limit is “30 – 120 kg” in the FAQ and “30 – 150 kg” on the Glass Slide page. If your teenager is near any of those numbers, ask before you pay — and see the full eligibility comparison.

Letting them out alone

RTA publishes the clearest rule of any authority on this page: “12 years old and above: Allowed to use public transport without being accompanied by an adult.” Below that, 8 to 11 needs a parent-issued permit, and under 8 is “not recommended”. Note the exclusion RTA attaches to the permit: it does not cover intercity buses.

Where a teenager cannot supervise a younger sibling: Wild Wadi states a 14-year-old admitted alone “cannot be the guardian/responsible of anyone under the age of 13”. Legoland and Dubai Parks require the accompanying adult to be over 18.
