Jumeirah and the beaches: what is here and what it costs

Jumeirah is the coastline, and the two things that decide a day here are both counter-intuitive. The metro does not reach it — not one venue on this stretch names a station within walking distance. And the beach club that looks most expensive is often the cheapest, because what decides the real cost is how much of the pass comes back as food and drink credit, not the headline figure.

The rule that inverts the price list

A beach pass you can spend at the bar is a different product from one you cannot, and no listing page treats them differently. Beach by FIVE returns all of a AED 100 pass, Jumeirah Beach Hotel returns half of AED 500, and Madinat Jumeirah returns none of AED 350. Net of the credit, the AED 500 pass costs less than the AED 350 one.

The same trick appears in a second form at J1 Beach, where Gigi Rigolatto charges AED 300 every day of the week — and makes it fully redeemable Monday to Thursday and only half redeemable Friday to Sunday. The price does not rise at the weekend. What it buys is halved.

If none of that appeals, the public beaches are here too and cost nothing that anyone publishes. Three night-swimming beaches sit on this stretch, and Jumeirah Beach 2 is the only Dubai beach with a published accessibility specification — floating wheelchairs, a sensory room, Gold certification.

Common questions

Can you get to Jumeirah by metro?

No. Not one venue on this stretch names a metro station within walking distance. A taxi is the practical option: AED 5 to start from the street, AED 9 to 13 booked on an app.

How much is a beach club day in Jumeirah?

AED 100 to AED 600 per adult where a price is published — but the headline figure is the wrong number to compare. What decides the real cost is how much comes back as food and drink credit, which runs from all of it to none of it.

Are there free beaches in Jumeirah?

Yes, and no entry fee is published for any of them. Three of Dubai's night-swimming beaches are on this stretch — Jumeirah 2, Jumeirah 3 and Umm Suqeim 1.

Which Jumeirah beach is accessible?

Jumeirah Beach 2, the only Dubai beach with a published accessibility specification: floating wheelchairs for sea access, wheelchair charging stations and the Middle East's first beach sensory room.

Do Jumeirah beach clubs cost more at the weekend?

Some raise the price. Watch for the version where they do not: at J1 Beach, Gigi Rigolatto charges the same AED 300 every day and halves how much of it is redeemable from Friday to Sunday.
